Challenges are real
If you've lived long enough, you will probably agree with me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m an optimist and believer in the power of positive thinking, but the challenges of life are real--death, divorce, addictions, financial challenges, physical and mental health issues, lost jobs, etc. The list goes on.
Over the last 50+ years, I walked through many of these issues either personally or with family and friends. Having weathered many of life's storms, I now dedicate my life to offering some measure of encouragement to others on their own paths.
A student of life
Full disclaimer - I am not a psychologist, pastor, or a professor. While I have spent my adult life as an entrepreneur, attorney, business consultant, and executive leader, I am really a student of life.
You might even say a philosopher--I've continually sought out wisdom for living. I've delved into the world's religions, gleaned insights from ancient philosophers, poured over modern social science research, all while anchoring my life in my personal faith journey within Christianity.
Aiming to inspire a journey
For many years, I've shared life lessons in numerous articles and several books aiming to uplift and inspire others in their unique journeys.
Beyond my quest for wisdom, I've dedicated decades to the study and practice of leadership. I've been part of both large and small organizations, seen businesses rapidly bloom into success and others fade into obscurity.
Believing that leadership matters
These varied experiences have reinforced my belief that leadership matters - profoundly! I've absorbed lessons from exceptional leaders and strived to embody those teachings in my actions. I had the privilege of interviewing leaders for a regional business publication, penning over 200 articles about individuals effecting meaningful change in their worlds. They may not make the national news, but these ordinary individuals, much like you and I, have created significant impact within their realms.
Intentionality is the key theme in much of my work. Be it in leadership or other life arenas, I firmly believe in the transformative power of pause, reflection, and strategic application of our time, talent, and resources. To glean wisdom from our past, lay foundations for our future, and fully embrace the gift of the present is the goal. As a mentor once imparted to me, "Every day is a Bonus Day - make the most of it."
Inviting you on a journey
So, I invite you to join me on this journey towards intentional living and growth. I'll share a wealth of ideas, hoping you'll take them and enhance them even further.
My ultimate aspiration is that we learn and grow, together. Life, in all its mystery and splendor, can often become obscured by daily distractions. It is my hope that together, we can slow down, reflect, and engage deeply with what truly matters.
